This little piggy.
I had an e-mail asking fora translation of "This little piggy went to market"
After a bit of research I came up with the following which I think is very useful.
First off a close translation
This little pig went to market,|
This little pig stayed at home,
This little pig has roast,
This little pig had none at all,
And this little pig had nothing more to do,
"pete-petit" Except to go back home.
"pete-petit" I am reliably informed is a little bit of nonsense like "wee wee wee."
It has aliteration the same as the English version.
Went Wee Wee Wee = Plus, Pete-Petit
The following is a similar rhyme/game.
I want to include it because it has the words for 1st 2nd 3rd 4th and last which are very useful.
I have included the first four lines for the sake of completion, although I am inclined to leave them out for my kids.
Cinq petits doigts qui s'ennuient,|
S'en vont en voyage,
Cinq petits doigts qui s'ennuient,
S'en vont cette nuit,
Le premier part en camion,
Le deuxième part en avion,
Le troisième part en auto,
Le quatrième en vélo,
Le petit dernier est parti à pied,
Five little fingers who are bored,|
go on a journey.
Five little fingers who are bored,
The first leaves in a lorry,
The second leaves in a plane,
The third leaves in a car,
The fourth by bike,
The last little one left on foot
